Academy of Sciences Shows the Latest Achievements of Friction Electric Generators

BEIJING, March 18, China New Network (Reporter Sun Zifa) People's walking power generation, raindrop power generation, wheel rotation power generation, machine roaring power generation... These people are still impressed by the way of energy utilization at the stage of theoretical research. At the exhibition of new energy technology achievements of friction power generation held on the afternoon of 18 th by Beijing Institute of Nano Energy and Systems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, it has become a living reality and is going to be widely used.

The research team led by academician Wang Zhonglin, director of the Institute of Nano Energy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, first developed a successful friction electric generator in the world in early 2012. He introduced that the principle of friction generator is totally different from traditional electromagnetic induction generator and friction generator. Friction generator utilizes the coupling of friction generator and electrostatic induction effect. At the same time, it realizes the effective output of current with the design of thin-layer electrodes. Its structure is very simple and lightweight. The basic components used to generate friction and generate current output are all thin film materials with only micron thickness, which makes the whole device soft and even transparent.

Friction generator is very low in cost, its main components are composed of organic materials and common metals, and its consumption is very small, so it is very suitable for large-scale industrialization. Its output performance can be controlled and improved by simple material replacement or preparation of nano-coatings on the surface of materials. It can also be modified by chemical methods to achieve richer functions. Wang Zhonglin said that this has increased many opportunities for basic and applied research in the field of chemistry and materials, and may even lead to some new research directions.

Through continuous efforts, the output power density of Friction Electric Generator has increased from only 3.67 mW/m2 to up to 500 W/m2 at present. Researchers have also successfully overcome the shortcomings of low output current, high voltage and difficult to charge the electrical appliances directly. The output current has been increased to 3 mA, and the maximum average stable output power is 1.5 W, so as to realize real-time power supply for small electrical appliances. The research results not only show that triboelectronic generators are rapidly moving towards industrialization, but also hopefully become one of the green new energy sources for large-scale application from the field of micro-energy.

Wang Zhonglin said that the power source of friction electric generator can be wind, water, sea waves and other large energy sources, but also random energy sources such as walking, body shaking, hand touch, falling raindrops and other environmental energy. It can also be waste energy such as wheel rotation, machine roaring and even garbage energy, so as to achieve effective collection of Mechanical energy. In the future, with the widespread application of triboelectronic generators, it is expected that human beings will directly supply power for portable and wearable devices through their own activities, and fundamentally solve the contradiction between the increasing functions of portable devices and the increasing shortage of batteries.

At the exhibition on the same day, the Institute of Nano Energy of CAS demonstrated to the media the power generation operation of 20 friction power generation devices, such as rotary DC friction generator, brake power generation simulator, self-driving wireless touch alarm, flexible transparent friction generator, disc broadband friction generator, pedal friction generator, tidal energy collection device and so on. New energy supply mode of "all-power generation".
